The Lanes Group of companies, which includes the UK's largest independent drainage specialist Lanes for Drains, is celebrating after winning coveted Silver in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2009.

Lanes' Group H&S Manager John Glover and Operations Director Alan Wallis collected the certificate at the awards ceremony on 14 May 2009 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.

This is the first time the Group has sought RoSPA recognition, and John Glover and is delighted with the result: "The efforts of the whole Group, and all the managers in particular, have been rewarded by RoSPA and that is a fantastic honour. We are very proud of our achievement.

"Here at the Lanes Group we have always known that Health and Safety is at the very top of our agenda, but having the official acknowledgement of a RoSPA Silver award demonstrates to everyone else just how serious we are about that commitment.

"The benchmark has now been set and we will concentrate our efforts on achieving a RoSPA Gold award next year."
