BG Controls has been awarded the 2009 Earthright Award by Delta Controls Inc. in recognition of its energy saving initiatives at Leicester Grammar School (LGS).
Canadian based, Delta Controls Inc. is a world leading developer and manufacturer of high quality native BACnet building automation systems. Delta’s Director of Technical Services UK, John Brough, presented the award to BG Controls last month at Delta’s European Conference in Prague.
BG Controls fought off stiff competition from Delta partners across the UK to win the award. The company was selected for providing full integration and electrical installation of a new energy efficient Building Management System (BMS) at LGS in South Leicestershire. The school recently relocated to a £33million, purpose-built complex, which provides first-class educational facilities for 1077 pupils, aged 3 to 18.
BG installed a state-of-the-art BMS for the new development, which incorporates a number of sustainable technologies to minimise environmental impact and limit energy usage.
The environmentally friendly BMS enables natural ventilation via wind catcher units, which are activated via a BACnet interface depending upon the temperature and CO2 levels in the classrooms. BG also enables and monitors the school’s Combined Heat and Power units.
“Delta Controls is committed to reducing energy consumption and encouraging its partners throughout the world to align to green practices,” said John Brough. “The energy saving strategies that BG Controls implemented at Leicester Grammar is a great example of this that has resulted in the company winning the Delta Earthright Award.”
John Roberts, BG Controls Regional Support Manager collected the Award. “We’re delighted to have won this award and would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved,” he said. “BG works hard to understand the needs of its customers in order to create sustainable and energy efficient buildings that are also safe and comfortable environments. The Earthright Award is welcome recognition of the success of this particular project.”
